SEA MOSS GEL DIRECTIONS

Pre-Rinse:

Place 4 oz of dried sea moss in a fine mesh strainer and rinse thoroughly with Filtered or Spring water (do not use tap water - any chlorine and/or fluoride could rip nutrients from your seam moss).  Hold strainer under running water and rub vigorously to remove all debris from the sea moss.

This may require you to take a knife and cut parts of the sea moss in order to properly remove and discard.

Raw Method:

Place the same 4oz of sea moss into a large bowl or jar and submerge in water. Note that the amount of sea moss that you use should only fill ¼ of the container that you plan to soak it in. Fill the container ¾ or more with spring water and let soak overnight.  We always recommend that you use glass containers and jars to soak and store your sea moss. Remove sea moss from soak water and rinse thoroughly making sure to remove any debris that could not be removed during the pre-rinse stage. Filter soak water with cheese cloth to separate the water from the dirt, debris, etc. (filtering and using your soaked water is optional) Place sea moss and filtered soak water in blender and add fresh water. ** Depending on how thick or thin you would like your gel to be, you will adjust your additional water amount. ** Blend Thoroughly.  Pour in glass bottle and store in the refrigerator.

Hot Water Method:

*Note if you are pressed for time, place the sea moss in your bowl or jar and submerge like the raw method and allow a minimum of 20 minutes for soaking or until sea moss completely swells. Discard soak water. Rinse and remove all loose dirt, debris, etc.  Once cleaned, soak in hot water for a minimum of 2 hours. Filter soak water with a fine mesh strainer for any missed dirt, debris, etc. Place sea moss in a blender along with soak water and additional hot water.  ** Depending on how thick or thin you would like your gel to be, you will adjust your additional water amount.  ** Blend Thoroughly.  Add additional water if needed. The consistency goal for post blending should be a slightly thick but easily pourable liquid.  Keep in mind that this liquid becomes thicker and more gel like when placed in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
